Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada Rachel Anne McAdams was the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), Nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is truck driver and
furniture moving. She is English--, Welsh-, Irish-, and Scottish. Rachel
started her journey into acting at the age of 13 and at the age of 13 was
appearing in Shakespearean performances at the summer theater camps. She
completed her studies with honors , earning a BFA degree in Theater at York
University. After her role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998)
She starred in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that follows the
trials and triumphs of a Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she received the
Gemini award. Her role as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004), instantly became
a top-rated actress on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. Following
the film, she was cast alongside Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). The
Notebook was a huge success at the box office, and was soon the top romantic
drama for the new generation of filmgoers. Following the film's production,
McAdams and Gosling became romantically linked and began dating through the
middle of 2007. McAdams followed with her next film, the comedy Wedding
Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), and the holiday drama The Family
Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema through Married Life
(2007) which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival. It also included Pierce
Brosnan and Chris Cooper in addition to Patricia Clarkson. After starring in
The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife
(2009), McAdams appeared opposite Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy
Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the shrewd
producer of a failed morning TV show in Morning Glory (2010), the attractive
fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) Then she
returned to romantic drama territory in the hit film The Vow (2012) opposite
Channing Tatum. McAdams also starred alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's
To the Wonder (2012) as well as alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma's
thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting
Actress of the Year" Award as well as the "Breakthrough Actress of
the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
