Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida on the 30th of November 1977. He is an American electro house music producer as well as record producer, D.J. and music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a wrestler, who also founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has two older brothers: Kana (sometimes called Grace), and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with a 1995 B.A. in badminton. Then, he attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He graduated with two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist Studies and the one in Sociology. He was a college student who made records on his own and hosted underground music in his Biko space at Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue after the apartment was known as The Pickle Patch. He also was involved in student activities at UCSB and was the founding member of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus. In his early 20s, he was establishing his own record label, that he named Dim Mak, a reference to his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. The label dropped I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq-alter ego of will.i.am. It was ranked the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. singles chart in its first week. It later entered the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, being among the top 5 on both charts. The song was seen on MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview with HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/ Aoki on one song. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the top dance artist in terms of revenue in North America from tours. His collaborations with artists include Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
